LAYER UP

As much as I love wrapping up for winter in my thick coats and wooly hats, a small part of me misses the items sat in my summer wardrobe, waiting for another 6 months to come back out.
I put together this outfit after being desperate to wear this playsuit I bought a few months back from Boohoo that I haven't had a chance to wear yet. Yes, I will admit my legs did get a little chilly, but I refuse to not wear culottes until next spring. I would probably add even more layers if I was wearing this outfit for a long period of time outside, this is what's great about this oversized bomber jacket - you can fit so many layers underneath to keep warm!

My second year at university has been a lot more time consuming that I originally thought hence the reason it has been a few months since my last post, I have been working hard with a mountain of coursework as well as having the time of my life living with all my best friends. My next plan is to get posting regularly again...fingers crossed!

Happy December!

Transitioning Your Wardrobe For Autumn

After a slightly unexpected, prolonged summer it is clear that autumn is finally starting to show itself, the weather has suddenly got a lot colder and wetter over the last few weeks so we are all starting to think about getting out our winter wardrobe - but it's not quite time to get your wooly coat out just yet. One of my favourite things about winter is being able to wear your favourite jumpers without having to cover them up with a coat, so it's certainly about making the most of this in between weather. I have too many sweatshirts and jumpers to count but this is the time I will be getting them out to wear just with a pair of jeans or if the sun decides to ever show it's face again maybe even with skirt or cropped culottes, you never know! This Topshop sweatshirt was a sale bargain I got a few months back but is still available online in petite (pair with some high waisted trousers and your good to go!) and is a favourite of my sweatshirt collection. I paired it with some loose wide leg trousers and my trusty Public Desire camel creepers.

How To Dress Like Rachel From Friends

Even though Friends finished 12 years ago (something that I have sadly had to come to terms with) we will all admit we watch those episodes over and over again and somehow they never seem to get boring. One thing of many things I have always loved about Friends is the fashion inspiration it gives. 90's fashion is probably one of my ultimate inspirations when it comes to my own personal style, so everything they are wearing in the early series falls under this category pretty aptly. Rachel in particular is someone I have always loved in terms of her personal style, for me my favourites were in the early 90's series... I know, shocking right?!
She is someone I have always thought of when it comes to a 'celebrity' or 'iconic' inspiration in fashion and I'm sure I am not alone in this after pictures of her famous Friends outfits are still constantly shown even 12 years on. Here I've put together a few little inspiration shopping boards on some of my favourite Rachel outfits...

Bardot Tops and Khaki Culottes

Two of this season's top trends that I never thought I would turn to have now created one of my favourite outfits...
When the culottes trend came into fashion I just couldn't get my head around them suiting me, I did love them on other people but I just felt I didn't have the guts to go out in them as I wasn't sure I could pull them off. It took me a long time to get into these but once I did, its safe to say that I have never looked back. I am so obsessed with culottes or just mid length wide leg trousers of any sort, they are so flattering and I am beginning to love anything loose fitting and over sized more and more recently. This particular pair were a complete steal at just £9.99! Yes, I'm not lying, I was so shocked at this when I read the label. They are elasticated at the waist so super comfortable as well as my favourite colour of the moment, khaki. New Look, you are winning. Another trend I wouldn't of seen myself wearing would be the bardot top, but again the more I saw them styled up and worn, the more I loved this silhouette and shape. Yet again another bargain (am I getting predictable yet!?) from Primark this time, I will certainly still be wearing this stripe shirt into the autumn months...

Why Stripes Should Be A Staple In Your Wardrobe

Stripes have been a huge trend this season, so much so that I don't think they are going anywhere any time soon. Having always been a lover of stripes I think they are such a great staple in a girls wardrobe, they are a simple and basic way of spicing up an outfit without too much thought or effort needing to go into it! If you're not too adventurous when it comes to pattern and texture in your clothes then I think stripes can be the next be thing for those people that are wanting to come out of going for minimal colours and shapes. This dress was a little Zara sale bargain I picked up, I actually ended up wearing it on holiday as a bikini cover up as it's so easy to just throw on, but I loved it because of it's simple shape it can be worn in a variety of ways. I have seen so many bloggers rock the stripes trend over the summer - I think that has definitely been reflected into my wardrobe and my recent purchases!

Dress - Zara (sold out)
Sunglasses - Primark

Whatever shape or style, I think a striped dress is definitely a much needed piece that can be worn in a variety of ways for various occasions. After browsing Asos, I found so many of these that I loved so I've put together a wishlist...

The Must-Have Products For Blonde Hair

Keeping up the condition of your hair when your a blonde can be tough at times, bleach certainly isn't your best friend but when you're a blonde it's something that has to be done! A fresh new haircut and a selection of new products was just what I needed to give my hair some TLC.
Looking after my hair has always been really important to me after studying hairdressing for a while when I was younger, so over the years I have tried out SO many different conditioning masks and shampoos, some that have really worked and others that haven't. I'm still continuing to try and get my hair into a really great condition, it has got a lot better over the years as I don't tend to use a lot of heat on it and as I haven't had it dyed or bleached in about 6 months, it has really helped give my hair a little break that it needed. I was so excited to try out all these Redken products and put them to the test on my hair...

'A caring, pH balanced, sulfate-free shampoo for natural and colour treated blonde colour treated hair that gently cleanses and softens with light moisture. Exclusive Kera-Bright System with kerabond, violet leaf extract and lactic acid helps strengthen hair and boosts shine without compromising colour so blonde hair looks bright, soft and beautiful.'- Redken

'A caring, nourishing rinse out hair mask for blonde colour treated hair and natural blonde hair that target damaged areas with intense replenishment. Exclusive Kera-Bright System with kerabond, violet leaf extract and lactic acid helps strengthen hair, replenish smoothness and amplify shine so blonde hair is polished with renewed softness.' - Redken

Suited specifically for blondes, I was looking forward to trying out these two products from the Blonde Idol range and they definitely didn't disappoint. It's quite rare I find a shampoo that I really love and I have become obsessed with one, you only need the smallest amount as it lathers up so nicely and makes your hair feel so clean after just one wash. I am usually washing my hair twice with shampoo in the shower after a few days leaving it without a wash so I really loved how easy this one lathers up. Followed by the Blonde Idol mask, they are a perfect pair together for your hair, this mask left my hair so soft and smooth and although I've only used it a few times I am looking forward to using the rest and continuing to improve the condition of my hair!

'Award winning Express Primer in a cream, for thick or coarse hair that needs extra manageability. Hair is left 3x stronger and healthier and perfectly primed for any style.
- Reduces blow-dry time
- Protects from heat up to 230˚
- Helps reduce breakage
- Provides 24-hour lasting volume' - Redken

This is a new product from Redken, designed to speed up the blow drying process as well as smooth and protect your hair from heat in the process. I have only used this a few times as I sometimes tend to leave my hair to dry naturally, but I have to say when I have wanted to give my hair a smooth blow dry this is definitely my go-to product. Great for priming your hair for a blow dry and protecting it if followed by curling or straightening.

'This rinse out hair primer treatment with Biotin builds strength from root to tip and target split ends. When use together, Extreme Shampoo, Extreme Length Primer and Sealer can help you achieve your potential maximum hair length.
Formulated with Biotin
Provides weightless conditioning
' - Redken

'This sealer treatment builds strength from root to tip and targets split ends. When used together, Extreme Shampoo, Extreme Length Primer and Sealer can help you achieve your potential maximum hair length.
Formulated with Biotin.
-  Provides weightless conditioning' - Redken

Taken from the Extreme Lengths, this primer and sealer have been an absolute god send for my hair. Although my hair isn't long in the sense that these are targeted towards longer hair, I personally think they can be used for any length of hair as your ends could be damaged at any length. As I mentioned earlier, my hair has come to a much better condition recently but using these two products will definitely continue to keep this up as well as improving it even more! I have always had quite frizzy and wavy hair especially after blow drying my hair I would always have to do something with it using a pair of straighteners, so I was completely shocked after using these two products to find after drying my hair it was completely smooth, soft and pretty much straight! I've never found this in a product before so I was really excited by this as it will enable me not to use any heat on my hair. The primer is used as a conditioner after shampooing, I then applied to the sealer onto towel dried hair before blow drying. A little definitely goes a long way with these products as well which is another great aspect.

Overall I think it's quite clear I am a huge fan of these Redken products! I would highly recommend all the products I tried out to anyone wanting to improve the condition of their hair or even just want to try a new product...

Have you tried out any Redken Hair Products?

Dreaming Of Festivals

Every summer it feels like I am dreaming of attending a festival and some how I've never ended up going. No, I have never been to a festival... something I am embarrassed to admit and am really hoping to change! This summer it is a case of the small amount of money I have going towards a holiday instead of a festival but I am determined next summer will be my time! Until then I am still a huge fan of festival wear and still love to dress like I could be dancing along to Coldplay at Glastonbury, sad but true!
I've layered up an outfit here based around this H&M dress, a really versitile piece that I think would be perfect for either a festival or a holiday. I may have gone a bit festival crazy here with the sunnies, cowboy boots and fedora hat, but what the hell!
Sometimes you have to go all out.
